I’m Carl Bertram, president of ClearScript PBM. People ask me all the time, what makes ClearScript different? And it really comes down to four simple things. Or, what we like to call four operating principles. It’s how we do business in the market.

Everything starts with who we are. Owned by a not-for-profit Fairview Health System, we bring more than a century of proven clinical excellence to every decision, putting patients, members, plan sponsors, and their partners first.

That’s the foundation of our mission to deliver transparent pharmacy benefits rooted in health system clinical excellence. Real programs, real outcomes at the lowest cost.

Our second operating principle connects into pricing,

It’s the mission-driven ownership shows up in how we price medications and how we contract. No spread games, no creative wordsmithing in our contracts, just transparent, trusted pricing. The same model we’ve used since day one for more than 21 years.

The market really hasn’t moved us there. The Consolidation Appropriations Act of 2026 or PBM reform of 2025 haven’t nudged us along there. We’ve been there since day one, consistently providing our clients with clear, transparent pricing and contracting.

Our third operating principle connects to data insights.

Pricing alone doesn’t lower costs. Insights do. Our team of pharmacy experts are constantly evaluating our data at the book of business level, our markets, and even at the client level. And, we address and identify risk early on proactively and continuously, helping plans and our partners act before trends become problems.

Lastly, but most importantly, you matter. And so do your members. That’s why we lead with people who are personally accountable to providing the highest touch service continuously that other PBMs simply can’t deliver or scale.
